Our Story & Mission
Curiosity Unlimited began in 1977 when a group of Pikes Peak residents and CU alumni set out to strengthen community engagement with the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS). Their vision was simple and enduring: create a welcoming forum where people can learn, connect, and stay curious throughout their lives.
That vision continues today. For nearly five decades, we have offered opportunities for adults to engage with university faculty, explore relevant issues through free lectures, and cultivate a spirit of ongoing intellectual curiosity.
Learning Opportunities
More than 200 UCCS professors have shared their expertise with Curiosity Unlimited through free public lectures. These sessions offer community members direct access to university-level insight and spark ongoing curiosity.
Supporting UCCS Students Through Scholarships
Curiosity Unlimited is also deeply committed to supporting the next generation of scholars. Through membership dues and designated gifts, we provide annual scholarships to UCCS students entering their senior year. For the 2025–2026 academic year, seven deserving students will receive Curiosity Unlimited scholarships, bringing our total scholarship support to more than $130,000 awarded.
One of these scholarships now honors Thomas Napierkowski, PhD, who served as Faculty Advisor to Curiosity Unlimited for an extraordinary 45 years. His dedication helped shape the organization into what it is today.

“My name is Amanda Ford, and I am a incoming senior at UCCS, majoring in Business Management with a minor in Political Science. The Curiosity Unlimited Scholarship has drastically impacted my time at UCCS. Receiving this scholarship support has allowed me to balance my preexisting duties while also growing and challenging myself with new and enriching opportunities and goals. I am so lucky to be able to grow, develop professionally, and pursue opportunities I may have usually had forgo without this financial support.”
